Image Modification

I have recently moved from the WRAP image to running m0n0wall inside a vmware virtual machine instead.
I really would like to see vmware-tools shipped with the image available on the beta download page. Is that possible?

I agree on vmware tools. VMs with tools seem to use much less CPU resource than those without. On my system m0n0wall uses about 12% CPU consistently, even when idle. Other linux vms that are more active use 0-3% when quiet.

Any chance to see VMware Tools integrated into m0n0wall 1.3 image for VMware (generic-pc-vm)?

In my experience, the VMware tools do relatively little under FreeBSD. There's a vmxnet virtual NIC kernel module, but it doesn't perform better than e1000. And the rest is mostly userland stuff, like support for taking guest shutdown/reboot commands from VMware, which isn't relevant for m0n0wall either (you can "pull the virtual power plug" on it without having to worry about file system corruption anyway). I don't think it'll lower idle CPU usage.

True to all you said, except idle CPU usage and vmxnet3 driver (introduced with vSphere4) witch performs better than E1000, especialy when it comes to host CPU utilisation. There is also heartbeet wich is nice feature.
Not like I can`t live without those but if there is a chance to have them..
