Hi all,

Since yesterday a have a nice ThinClient with 2 Realtek RT8139C network card chipsets a and CompactFlash card of 32MB.

Now when I write m0n0wall on it, and boot the device there is no way to ping it, it doesn't matter wich network card I use. I've set the LAN ip to 192.168.1.40/24, and my current network is 192.168.1.0/24.

There is a function to let m0n0wall auto set wich device is LAN, and wich device is WAN. I tried to use that function and I pressed 'a' to let it detect wich device is LAN. Well, like you can guess, I get 'No Link-up Detected' when I plug my network cable in (Yes - The uplink LEDs are on, and if I plug that cable into another computer it works).

Also if I just booted it says: LAN - sis0, WAN - sis1, is this normal?

I think my network card chipsets are not supported by the current kernel you supply, anyway to compile it with it?

Thanks in advance,
Kenneth

Hello,

Your problem is your 2 Realtek RT8139C NIC's .. change them and your world will be a better place. After four agonizing hours, eternal light showered its knowledge and I used cards with non realtek chipsets.. everything worked thereafter
