First off, I'm finally glad there is a forum!!  I've been using M0n0 for years and always wondered why there wasn't a forum!! So excited!! :-)

Anyway, off to my question. Has to do with my ftp server behind M0n0.  Clients can only connect to the server via Active Mode.  When trying to connect via Passive, it not only takes forever just to connect to the server, but then the client hangs when trying to pull the directory listing down.  Now I know why this is.  I don't have those "umpteen thousand" high ports open on M0n0 to allow the client to connect back to the server via Passive mode.  Is there a way to do this without opening all those ports up?  I'm using Pure-FTP which does have a configuration that will allow the FTPD server to bind specifically to ports.

What is everyone else doing to allow Passive??

I use ports 50200-50215 but I only have a few users connecting at any one time.

Thanks for the reply!  I'm curious, how many high end ports typically need to be opened for one user?  Or is there no "concrete" number??  Just trying to figure out the "maximum" amount of those high ports to open.
