Hi there

My m0n0wall is configured with three interfaces, LAN, WAN and DMZ. The LAN is a 192.168.1.0/24 net, the DMZ 192.168.10.0/24. I want to wake up the server in the DMZ from the LAN. When i login to the mono and wake up the server from there, it works. But if i use a tool on my pc which stands in the LAN, the server doesn't wake up. I don't understand why, i have everything allowed from LAN to DMZ, i think it souldn't be blocked. Maybe it's not broadcasted in the DMZ, but i havent found anything how i could do this.
Any ideas?

Thanks and greetings
Mike

WOL packets are broadcast traffic and thus not routed.  It works from the Monowall as it is directly connected to the DMZ network and can broadcast onto the subnet.

Thanks for your reply. And there's no chance to route this traffic?

Not as far as I know.  Remember, you are broadcasting a packet to a particular MAC address.  Other than the physical subnet there is no way of directing a packet to that machine as you don't route by MAC address.  Have a search on the web though.  I did see some mentions when I had a quick look about the possibility using VLANs.  The WOL is often referred to as a "Magic Packet" so see what you can rind about routing them.
