Hi Manuel, could "No-IP.com" be added for dynamic DNS?
I know it is in the "pfSense" version, but I want to use monowall because I think it is better.
Thankyou, Jeff

New FAQ entry,

16.46 I want to request a new feature for m0n0wall. How should I best frame the request in the forums?

Be sure to include the following phrase in your post: "...but I wan to use monowall because I think it is better."

Amen. I wasn't trying to trivialise jeff r's request, I just thought it was well written and deserved some extra attention.

same here. I have 2 WAN connections and could use a no-ip.com updater on each monowall, i work from home and I use 2 connections in case one fails from "isp maintenance".

also like the feature that might be supported later on in the future for multiple WANs, but i doubt i'll use it since i have a machine running downloads, and one of my isps is capped on how much i'm allowed to download per month.

You might want to try pfSense.  It already supports no-ip and they just released ver 1.2.  I personally use m0n0wall myself but it looks like the pFsense developers are on the march and taking no prisoners.   Smiley

I too could use this functionality in m0n0wall.  It seems kinda lame to have to run the ip updated on a lan machine that may or may not be on all the time as opposed to my m0o0wall that is *always* on.  Current uptime is only 53 days...  would be longer if I hadn't tripped that breaker Smiley

Seriously though...  Im not saying I have the skill to do this myself... but...  it cant be very difficult to implement the ip updater client.

Oh, I just thought "maybe no-ip will work, I just choose dyndns or something and thats just the protocoll and works with no-ip", but then it seems no-ip should be in that list for it to work, and its just not implemented.

Oh well, router is up all the time so unless my ISP screws up it will remain static.
Would have been cool to have the functionality though, but oh well.
At least now I know its not worth trying.

no-ip.com works fine
i choose DynDNS (custom)
type the hostname i registerd
in the server i put no-ip.com
and hit the username and password,
and it is working perfectly

It works, but bit odd no-ip.org isn't in the list when all others are...
