Hey all,

I'm looking into setting up a m0n0wall firewall & router for my home network. One of the things I would like to have is the possibility to connect from anywhere in the world to my network (especially my file server). The think is, my home internet connection has a dynamic IP which is renewed every 36 hours, but which I can monitor online.

Is it possible to set up a VPN connection from anywhere in the world to my home network (using the correct IP ofcourse), using m0n0wall and standard windows VPN client (or a third party client if necessary)?

Thanks for your help, I'm pretty new at this stuff...

you should be able to do this with the PPTP server built into m0n0wall and the windows PPTP client.  also, you will want to use one of the Dynamic DNS services supported by m0n0wall.

Note:  use something other than 192.168.1.x for your m0n0wall's subnet!
