Topic: Port Forwarding - Incoming Port  (Read 1516 times)

I've been having lots of problems with forwarding my ports to servers within my LAN and just recently discovered what has been causing it but I don't understand why.  It appears that my forwarding works if I leave the incoming port as 'any' instead of specifying which port.  For example if I configure it to listen on port 22 then forward that port traffic to 192.168.0.3 it will not work.  If I configure it to listen on any port 'any' then forward to the traffic on port 22 to 192.168.0.3 it works.  I hope this makes sense...
Why would this be causing me an issue?  Is it due to another setting?
I would prefer it to listen on the specific ports if possible since I feel it is more specific which to me makes it somewhat more secure due to lower possibilities.
Thanks in advance for the help and/or explanation.

most outgoing connections use random ports as the source.  that is why it won't work unless you use "any" as the source port.
