I am having a problem with MS PPTP clients located behind a m0n0wall (version 1.232) server. When a user disconnects from a remote MS PPTP server a different user is not able to connect to the same server for several hours or until I reset the firewall and NAT state. I understand that it is not possible for multiple clients using MS PPTP to connect to the same server simultaneously when they are behind a NAT firewall. What controls the amount of time before a different user can connect to a previously utilized server? Do other firewall products PFSENSE, Shorewall etc have the same  limitation on simultaneous MS PPTP connections to the same remote server?

Thank you

Your firewall state table timeout controls that. I've now heard of 2 or 3 people seeing that with m0n0wall.

pfSense has the same single simultaneous connection limitation, but I haven't heard of GRE states hanging around being a problem with pf like it seems to be with ipfilter.

You may want to try upgrading to 1.3b10 to see if the newer ipfilter doesn't have that issue.

Tested this with two 1.3b10 m0n0walls and the problem remains.
