Hello.
I've on old P2 Pc with 3 ethernet cards. The first two is working, but the third isn't.
One SMC, and two 3Com cards. After I set the OPT1, and I try to ping it, there is nothing happenig. On the WebGUI it says, the Nic state is: Down.
But why ?
Before the monowall, I used Freesco (linux with 2.0 kernel), and all the cards was work.

Some hardware just doesn't work with FreeBSD, and the opposite is true as well, some hardware that works fine in FreeBSD won't work in Linux. One of the aggravations of open source operating systems unfortunately.

I'd make sure you have any PNP OS settings in your BIOS set to no, and upgrade the BIOS if possible. If that doesn't fix it, try a different NIC>

Did it detect OPT1 using the "auto-detection" where you plug in the link and it "sees the link is up" and assigns the interface?

If you got that far, then it's safe to say it will probably work. But even after you verify that, you need to assign an IP range to the OPT1 afterwards to make it "work" so to speak.

Need more details.  Huh
