Topic: 1.3b too large to upload -- filesystem full  (Read 5544 times)

I have a logic supply perimeter F2 firewall running 1.233.  It has 256MB of CF and 256MB of RAM.  When I use "df" through exec.php I see that /dev/md0 is 92% full (only 2400 blocks free).

When I try to upgrade to 1.3b10 (web gui) it appears that I am running out of space (and the upgrade is failing).  Is there a way to increase the file system size?  What else ought I do?

It's a known problem with direct upgrades on generic-pc from 1.23x to 1.3b9 and up. It's not the normal root file system size that is too small, but the MFS that is allocated when you enable firmware uploads (8 MB).

As a workaround, upgrade to 1.3b7 first (which is slightly smaller), and then from there to 1.3b10. You can get 1.3b7 here:

Eventually, there will be a 1.234 release with an increased firmware MFS size, so that people can go from 1.23x to 1.234 and from there to 1.3.

Manuel,

Any ETA for 1.234? I ask because I'm running 1.233 on a Nokia IP110, which [AFAIK] is not supported by 1.3b7 due to a missing kernel patch. However, I'm desperate to implement 1.3b for NAT-T support...

Would you be willing to provide me with guidance on how to modify the necessary scripts to increase the size of the MFS created during the upgrade process? I'd really like to get this running as soon as practical, and would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Cheers,

Update:

In /etc/rc.firmware, I find:

Code:
/sbin/mount_mfs -s 16384 -T qp120at -b 8192 -f 1024 dummy /ftmp

Which appears to be creating a 16MB MFS with an 8k block size. Is 16MB not enough? Can I / should I increase this to 24? 32? What is necessary for an upgrade to 1.3b10?  Undecided

Thanks!

I had trouble upgrading, even with the information above. I finally added some more ram and it worked first time. Seems 64M is not enough when upgrade time comes.

Cheers
