Hello,

I'm using The soekris 5501 with the generic-pc-1.3b10.img.
I started from scratch : physdiskwrite.exe generic-pc-1.3b10.img ... on a 1G CF card.

First problem :

Code:
m0n0wall console setup
**********************
1) Interfaces: assign network ports
2) Set up LAN IP address
3) Reset webGUI password
4) Reset to factory defaults
5) Reboot system
6) Ping host

Enter a number: 1
XML error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 7

So I decided to do 4, factory default
and after the reboot :

Code:
Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/md0
kern.coredump: 1 -> 0

*******************************************************************************
* FATAL ERROR                                                                 *
* The device that contains the configuration file (config.xml) could not be   *
* found. m0n0wall cannot continue booting.                                    *

I was using the 1.3b9 without problems.

Have you tried another CF card or running physdiskwrite on a different PC?  Also, if you have a CF to IDE adapter you could test your CF card in an old PC and see if you still get those errors.  If all else fails, you could send me your CF card and I'll try it in one of my Net5501.

I hade similar issues when upgrading from 1.3b9 -> 1.3b10 on my net5501.

This is most probably caused by a BIOS issue. My net5501 bought in October came with BIOS 1.32.
I upgraded to latest BIOS (1.33) and upgrade 1.3b9 -> 1.3b11 with out any issues.

Sidenote:
I could recover from the failed upgrade by removing the CF card mount it in my linux server and copy out the config file. Then reflash it with 1.3b9 and restore the config. (Yes I know I should have had a backup ;-)
