Hello,

I just installed M0n0wall and I'm trying to get used to how port forwarding works.  So far I'm able to open ports for specific IP's but how would I open up a port to my entire LAN?  I want to set it up so any machine on my LAN can access ventrillo but I'm not sure how to set it up in NAT rules and Firewall Rules.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Smiley

You can't have multiple PCs using the same port at the same time behind NAT.

If you can tell the server or outside peers to connect to a different port for each PC in your LAN then you can forward the different WAN ports to the same internal port on different PCs in the LAN.
If your PCs are listening on port 8000
ie: mywanip:8000 > 192.168.1.5 > 8000
mywanip:8001 > 192.168.1.6 > 8000
mywanIP:8002 > 192.168.1.7 > 8000

Not sure what your application is.. maybe if someone knows the app or you can give more info on the ports it listens on and if the outside world can target different ports we can help more.

But I believe you cannot do what you are asking if the outside world can only target 1 port on your WAN.  That is the nature of NAT

Ventrillo will only send data to 1 port.  How about this...rather then forward the data is there a way to just open a port?  not sure if that makes sense.  On linksys routers for example u can port forward port 8000 to both 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101.

On a linksys you can do a "Port Trigger" which will basically detect a PC on your LAN trying to connect to the outside world on a particular port and then the linksys will do an auto-port forward to that particular LAN PC.

From what I can see, m0nowall will not do Port Triggering, only static port forwards.

Do you use all PCs on ventrillo simultaneously, or only 1 at a time?  You will need multiple static IPs from your ISP if you need to use it simultaneously.  In fact, that is probably

If you only use 1 at a time, do you know if ventrillo has UPnP support?  pfSense, a much more feature filled version of m0n0 has UPnP support which will allow a UPnP enabled application to talk to pfSense and open the port for you.  However, I'm not sure if another host will be able to try to "grab" that port away from another PC that has it mapped.
