Hello,
I'm running the latest m0m0wall firmware and i'm having a the following problem.
I created the NAT entry below to allow WAN > LAN TCP/UDP traffic on port 5001 to the same port on a specific IP address which is my slingbox.
The result is the client (remote slingbox user) being able to connect and watch TV on whatever channel the cable box happens to be on. HOWEVER, if the remote user tries to change the channel or after a number of minutes, the screen freezes on the remote end.
This works w/o my m0n0wall, but i don't understand why i'm having this problems.
WAN > LAN 10.2.2.x
OPT1 192.168.1.x > Slingbox 192.168.1.237
Rule:
WAN (TCP/UDP) on port 5001 > 192.168.1.237 (TCP/UDP) on port 5001
Easy as Pie! You will need to know the ports that slingbox is using - in addition to your WAN IP and the IP of your slingbox.
Firewall > Nat > Inbound
You basically need to forward all incoming requests from WANIP:Port to the LANIP:port your slingbox uses.
I just googled, it looks like you can specify which port to have SlingBox listen on, but it defaults to 5001.
So, lets get started
1. find your WAN IP address (
www.whatismyip.com is the fastest way)
2. in m0no - Firewall > NAT > Inbound
3. Add a new rule:
WAN
Interface address
TCP
ext range: 5001
NAT IP: the IP of your slingbox (192.168.1.x probably)
Local port: 5001
give it a description
Check the Auto-Add Rule box
Save and apply.
Now all requests going to port 5001 on your WAN IP will be forwarded directly to your slingbox.
