Is this card-reader/writer what I need to write the image on a 1GB CF?
http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=50059

EDIT: Or maybe this one that looks even better and cheaper Smiley

Is then this ALIX (incl CF-card, chassi, adapter) then the only other thing needed to get a fully working router that outperforms the cheap home-routers?
http://www.icd.se/default.aspx?aSa=Vp&Pi=1443

Then just download the beta-image of M0n0wall, write it to the card, put the card in the ALIX, and then configure it as a regular router sort of?

Am I missing something? (GB-switch of course but thats out of this forum)

Thanks Smiley

Will only use 2 interfaces, but a third one might come in handy some day....

EDIT: And no need for any console-connection if I understand things right, its ok with only http confing?

Oh well, I'm ordering the last parts now....I just thought it sounded so cheap with those card-readers but it seems those are whats needed to write the image.
Cant see anything missing so putting the last order now.
Ordered an expensive (for me anyway) 8p GB-switch yesterday too Smiley

This will be fun....I hope Wink

It looks nice.

the great thing about the third port is that you can use it for like DMZ for a server or something.

And just follow the guide when writing the image and you should be fine :-P

Thanks Smiley

Just got it delivered, insanely small clean and nice looking case for it Smiley

Would just like to know if I can use ANY interface for WAN/LAN?
On the pcb it says  LAN1/POE, LAN2, LAN3 on the ports.
Are the LAN1/POE (PPPoE?) meant for WAN-use?
Cant see why it could ever matter, its all ethernet anyway, but who knows.

Too bad the switch doesn't seem to arrive until next week sometime, so cant really do anything useful with this yet, except installing and confing it Smiley

Thanks Smiley

EDIT: Oh my, the CPU on the ALIX doesn't even have any sort of cooler on it, its totally naked Cheesy
Guess these really are energyefficient Smiley

POE... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_over_Ethernet
Any Port can be used as WAN
The system uses about 15W
