There's no way you'd get any suitable storage on a PIX. Theoretically it would probably work - the PIX hardware is no different from a regular Pentium/PII/PIII machine (depending on the model), but there aren't any storage ports, nor any video capability which would make it difficult to troubleshoot and assign interfaces. The bigger PIX's have PCI slots which might accommodate a video card and an IDE controller maybe, but that's probably really pushing it.
With the ebay resale value of any PIX hardware, you could buy a faster and more suitable piece of equipment for what you could get out of the PIX.
