Hello All!
I aquired a Nokia IP 130 (IP0110?) and i thought i'd try m0n0wall on it.

I replaced the harddrive with a known working one and tried both dd and physdiskwrite with the "standard PC (CF/IDE version)"-image; generic-pc-1.233.img. I can see that a small partition is created on that HD. It's a 40Gb Hitachi Travelstar. Model: IC25N040ATMR04-0. P/N: 08K0633.

When i connect the harddrive and check the console (serial)-port i get nothing.

If i reconnect the old(original) drive i get the bootmgr-message, so all physical hardware and setup should be ok.

Am i missing out something here ?...

Regars & TIA
Jani

UPDATE: I imaged the new drive with the nokia-original HD contents, still did not want to boot. I tried with another drive and that one works ok. I dunno why the first drive i tried refused to work with the nokiabox. It works ok on other machines.

If anyone has any info about drives/CF-cards(+adapters) working with Nokia IP130, that info would be appreciated. (post/reply here)

Regards
Jani

I bet it probably doesn't like a drive as big as 40 GB.  Maybe the drive that works is smaller than that.

I never could get a IDE to CF adapter to work in those boxes and don't know of anyone who has.

Hi

I had the same issue when trying to install pfsense on nokia IP130

please read my last idea on why CF could not work on ip130, it is in a pfsense forum
http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,14599.0.html

Issue is that until now I didn't succeed in finding such CF adapter

But I had maybe a start of answer through this topic

afaik pfsense runs without issues on a 6gb microdrive using a common CF/IDE adapter...
can't confirm whether it does on a nokia IP130 though

I have the generic PC image of m0n0wall running on a IP130 with a 512 MB Compact Flash card and this CF/IDE adapter (both no-name items purchased on eBay).

Jumper is set to Master, adapter is in the position shown.

Works great, except console is necessary to set up the interfaces and the 1.3 betas won't reboot the IP130 properly.
