i'm running 1.3b10 on a net4801 and can't seem to get the upgrade to newer 1.3b versions to complete. i've tried rebooting it via the gui and just pulling power before the upgrade, but neither seems to have any effect.

the update process seems to run, i sometimes get some disk activity on the 4801, and then the page just times out. refreshing the main page shows 1.3b10 -- as if the upgrade didn't happen at all.

any ideas?

I'm having the same problem trying to upgrade from 1.3b12 to 1.3b13.

It's definitely getting to the point of rebooting as I can see the uptime reset.

yeah, same here. i know i can probably pop out the card and reflash, but i'd rather just use the web gui for this, as i have a number in remote locations to upgrade if this test unit works well enough.

Figured it out.  My Web browser was automatically un-gzipping the file when I downloaded it, which means the file was too big for the /ftmp partition m0n0wall creates.

So, make sure the file you are uploading is 7 MB, not 10 MB.

I'm really surprised we don't get an "out of space" error though.

hmmm… so we should upload the gzipped version? i believe both failed for me but will try again. should i chop off the .gz extension and just upload?

Yeah, try that.  The file I upgraded was 7288174 bytes and named "net48xx-1.3b13.img".

ahh, perfect. i'll answer my own question. somehow, i probably knew this before, but uploading the gzipped image without the .gz extension worked just fine. go figure…

thanks for your help.
