Hello,

I am trying to copy/install wrap-1.3b13 on a CF-card with the command # gunzip -c wrap-*.img ¦ dd of=/dev/hdc bs=16k . A Transcend M5-RDM5W is used as
card reader(see c't 7-2008). Surprisingly that the card-reader is not recognised by WXP, but under slax 6.0.7 SD-cards are recognized.

With the following commands I tried to check, if the card reader is properly recognized:

root@slax:~# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 058f:6362 Alcor Micro Corp. Hi-Speed 21-in-1 Flash Card Reader/Writer (Internal/External)

After inserting the CF card to the ALIX.2C1 board the following message is displayed on Hyper Terminal:

Replace and press any key when ready

Questions:
What an I doing wrong?

Thank's a lot for any help/feedback!

John

I don't think this will fix your problem but I noticed your BIOS is not current.

Thank's a lot for the reply :-)

On an other WXP machine the CF-cardreader( Transcend M5-RDM5W) seems to be recognized (some minutes after inserting, 3 driver letters are shown in the File-Explorer)

Therefore I tiried it with the command "physdiskwrite wrap-1.3b13.img"

Which disk do you want to write? (0..0)

Obviously I didn't select PhysicalDrive0. That's my hd :-)

Thank's a lot for any feedback!

Sounds like you might have some bad hardware.  I've had really good luck with physdiskwrite (0.5.1) and XP.

My brandnew Transcend M5-RDM5W seems to be broken because with an other CF card reader it does work...

Physdiskwrite (0.5.1) and XP did a great job :-)

Thank's a lot for the help!
