Hi,

I just bought a Pro/1000 XF and I've got two spare computers to run m0n0 on. One is a Gateway 2000 w/ a 166MHz Penium MMX, 64MB RAM. The other is a Pentium 4 3GHz w/ 512MB RAM. If I'm going to be running a 20mbit up/down connection across 5 or 6 computers, would that put too much stress on the Gateway?

Thanks

you reall need more than 166Mhz for 20mbit.  I would go with 333 to 400 as a minimum.

hmm...ok, it's not possible to run something else in conjunction with m0n0wall (if such a thing would be necessary), because 3GHz is a bit much for just a firewall.

I'd think it depends on what those 5-6 computers will be doing.

If each will be running torrents I think it's a no-go but it might be fine if it's just "normal" firewall duties.

Try and see how it goes?

This is going to be a really silly question, but would it be possible to use some of the spare power of the Pentium 4 to run m0n0wall as well as Folding@Home through means of virtulization? I have a feeling it wouldn't work but I figured I might as well ask.
