I have 1.3b14 installed and it does not reboot (via webgui nor console).

Here is a sample:

Code:
m0n0wall console setup
**********************
1) Interfaces: assign network ports
2) Set up LAN IP address
3) Reset webGUI password
4) Reset to factory defaults
5) Reboot system
6) Ping host

Enter a number: 5

The firewall will reboot. This may take one minute.

Do you want to proceed? (y/n) y

The firewall is rebooting now.
Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `vnlru' to stop...done
Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `bufdaemon' to stop...done
Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `syncer' to stop...
Syncing disks, vnodes remaining...0 0 done
All buffers synced.
Uptime: 51s
Rebooting...

It will stay in this point forever and ever.. I have to unplug the device power and plug it back to get it to boot again. Note that 1.235 does reboot properly!

Same problem here with Nokia IP110 and IP120.

The only hint I found is this post on the Pfsense forum: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,7231.0.html#msg42159

I have Nokia IP120's and IP130's that have been diligently humming along with the old 1.2X release. I tried to reimage one to the new 1.3b16 release and though it seems to run fine...it won't reboot from the console or the web gui (making remote administration just a little more difficult). I saw a similar thread about this months back. Any ETA on when this might be resolved? I'd be willing to loan out hardware if necessary.

Basically, once reboot is selected I can see "Rebooting..." in the console and that's where it stops. If I pull the plug and start it backup all is well.

Thanks!

I've moved this to Feature Requests, as it's not really the fault of m0n0wall (or FreeBSD). If you can find a FreeBSD 6.x kernel patch that resets these Nokia devices the way they need it, please post it here and we'll integrate it into m0n0wall.

For the record - I did some debugging with esoride, and it seems like the Geode-specific reset code in the FreeBSD kernel (in sys/i386/i386/vm_machdep.c) is being triggered properly and also appears to reset the CPU. However, for some reason, the Nokia box doesn't enter the BIOS and boot again after that.

I don't have a solution for this problem at this time, but again: if anybody finds a FreeBSD kernel patch to make reboots work in recent FreeBSD versions on these boxes, it should be easy to integrate in m0n0wall.

Bumping this topic because it doesn't seem to have been addressed elsewhere. I can create a new topic if that would be better.

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone has seen this resolved in the later builds of 1.3. As of 1.3b15 a Nokia IP130 does not reboot successfully.

Confirmed for IP130, but it seems this issue is on all kernel builds. Maybe I can write a fix, if I can find out how to properly reboot the Nokia system...

Apologies, as there is a FR for this: http://forum.m0n0.ch/index.php/topic,3237.0.html

But, no one seems to know how to fix.

Is there any news on/fix for this issue? This afternoon i've installed 1.32 successfully on a Nokia IP130 but a soft reboot is not possible. Not a big problem since is start's perfectly after a cold boot, so in case of a power failure it will come back online when power is back, but i was wondering if anyone fixed this already.

Another thing is that there is no 'shutdown' option in the web interface. Well, i got one now  Cheesy but assuming that the 'no soft reboot' issue will be fixed in time i think it's almost necessary. File systems can be damaged when you just unplug them when they are rebooting (or running). A shutdown option would be great i think.

It's an old thread, but in case someone stumbles upon this: with the latest beta (1.8.0b496), a kernel patch has been introduced that lets Nokia IP130 appliances reboot correctly.

Manuel,

This is awesome news. Any notion on when this might make it to release?
