Hi!

I'm having trouble getting m0n0wall to boot from a CF Card.

Hardware Details:
ALIX 2D3, with tinyBIOS 0.99 (current as I post this), 256MB, 3 NIC, No PCI cards
CF Card: EXTREMEMORY 2GB "Performance" Edition 120x/60x
M0n0wall: embedded-1.3b15 (MD5 (embedded-1.3b15.img) = 518ed40dde08aabc0232beeda58ef4fb) This md5 is for the gunzipped file.

I'm using a Digitus USB 2.0 Multi format card reader to dd the image to the CF card.
Command used to copy the gunzipped image file to the CF card:
Code:
sudo dd if=embedded-1.3b15.img of=/dev/disk2 bs=16k
pepi > root@bauxite-en0.maclemon.lan Password:
640+0 records in
640+0 records out

        5.53 real         0.00 user         0.34 sys
No errors here, I've got 4 of these cards here (unused, new) and all of them have the same behavior. I've tested the cards by blockscanning them, and they don't show any problems. They work fine for other purposes, like a DSLR or in a PS3.

When I try to boot the ALIX 2D3 from this card I get the following output on the serial console:
Code:
PC Engines ALIX.2 v0.99
640 KB Base Memory
261120 KB Extended Memory

Hit [Enter] to boot immediately, or any other key for command prompt.
Booting [/kernel]...

Then the system stops responding and does not continue to boot any further.
I can ge the same system to boot with a different (very old) CF card from NIKON.
NIKON EC-16CF, 16MB capacity and seems to be manufactured by SanDisk.

I've played around with the tinyBIOS settings for CHS, LBA and UDMA to no avail. I can enter the bootloader menu and provide info should ther be lurking some details you might need to help remedy.

I've googled for this problem and CF card brand and also searched the board here. Couldn't find any solution or hints on incompatibilities. Hope I can find help here. I'm happy to provide any details you might need to help you help me.

Thanks in advance!
Best regards
