I use monowall as a simple router with several clients connected to it.

setup is as following with monowall 192.168.0.1 (acting as the gateway) and then clients following 192.168.0.2-12

While the internet time service works fine for xp machines I wasn't able to update my time with any time server address on vista geting the famous "an error occurred while windows was synchronizing with" error message.

This is what the monowall's firewall log reports with these connections all being blocked

Any clue ?

I am using Monowall version 1.233

Use a different time server and see if that helps.  Windows XP/Vista is know for it's wonky time service problems.  Mainly, depending on how the time server responds, the OS doesn't get a response "quick enough" and just gets that generic error like that.

Try the one m0n0wall uses by default  Grin

pool.ntp.org

thanks for the quick reply ...

I have tried every time server address I could possibly find always with the same result getting that error....

Then I manually adjusted the time and date and since then the time sync works !

strange .. but anyways it works now Smiley
