So we had a HP t5500 thin client http://www.thinclientcentral.com/HP_t5500.htm at work that we werent using, it has a 32mb flash drive, 733mhz curose cpu, 256MB PC2100 ram, soo i booted form a usb drive with linux and did a dd to install the latest image to the flash and bam, instant m0n0wall. The one main issue is it only has 1 eth port onboard which is a VIA rhine, so I bought a USB to Ethernet adapter, but the USB is 1.1 so my 8MB internet now downloads at 4MB. So after doing some digging i found you can buy a PCI expansion kit from HP. I found one on ebay for 6.99. The HP part # is DE961A. So far everything is working great, hopefully i will get the exansion card this week and can put another nic in. I will report back if anyone has any interest of how it went.

I've been running monowall on an HP t5700 (1GHz, 512MB Ram, 256MB Disk on Module) for a while now and its been rock solid.  For anyone on the wall about these, I would highly recommend them not only for their size, but for their nice specs in relation to a router.

Currently trying to get monowall to work with the Sun quad port card so I can leave it in my TC, but that is another story.

I just got T5735 and so far have no luck getting m0n0wall installed.  would you please give me an advice on best way to approach it?

I can't seem to create usb version of linux so that i can boot the thin client and download img file to flash it.  any advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Why not get a Dual NIC card then? No idea how deep the expansion cage is, but with some luck you might find a not too deep PCI card too.

Btw: would those T5500 be fast enough for 120Mb/s download?
Got a 120/10Mbit/s connection here

yup ... thats good idea

since my device not have pci riser kit, and in here very difficult to get one
so i hack the onboard nic, i get off the onboard nic and re wire with hd cable
aha ... i get pci without having pci riser ... do at your own risk for that hack !!!

like i said before ...
when i plug the nic on pci card, i loose control of my keyboard
thats i have so pain ...

120/10 mbps ... cool
in my dream i have that conn Smiley, lucky for u
should you try that ...
btw, u have t5000 series ? any success ?

Think I will have to drop this.
Getting a thin client isn't the problem, the PCI cage maybe a bit more searching, but getting a dual 1Gbit PCI-32 card is next to impossible it seems.
All PCI-X or PCI-64.

Obviously a a dual Gbit PCI-32 wouldn't make much sense anyway, but still.
Unless there is a thin client with onboard Gbit NIC, I'll have to stick with my home build VIA solution.

Looks nice, but still only 10/100 onboard.
Looking at the quickspecs PDF it's using standard PCI-32 as well.

Was checking the current models. VIA CPU's and onboard 10/100/1000, but no more PCI cages...
And a tad expensive to buy new just for a m0n0wall box imo.

This might work for the second NIC (no idea on the chipset used though): http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=281799

But that just makes it even more expensive...
