Hello,

Sorry for myn bad english but I try...

I'am using M0n0wall for WiFi Hotspots.
And it's works great!
But Some hotspot are far away from here so I want to use the webGUI over the internet.
Am I right that its only works with vpn?

When I try a M0n0wall on myn local netwerk the vpn is not working.
I give the M0n0wall a static wan adress, I make some changes in VPN: PPTP and make a rule in the pptp vpn firewall (port 1723/tcp).

Myn local Windows machine (on the WAN side) can't connect the M0n0wall...

Edit: I try to set port 80 open from WAN to LAN (Oké it's not safe, just for testing) to get mij remote webGUI. No succes...

NAT Inbound:
IF: WAN
Proto: TCP
Ext.Port: 80
NAT IP: 192.168.1.1  (IPadress from the M0n0wall on the LAN-side)
Int port: 80
Description: webGUI

Rules:
Action: Pass
Interface: WAN
Protocol: TCP
Source:Any
Source port: 80 (HTTP)
Destination: Single host or Alias
Address: 192.168.1.1
Destination port: 80 (HTTP)

I read a lot off topics but I don't understand why it's not working....

Thanks for any help!

You won't need a NAT rule for this, just a WAN firewall rule.

Protocol=TCP
Source=Any
Port=Any

Destination=WAN
Port=80

Safer you mean?  Wink

Yes, because your password travels in plain text. If you switch m0n0wall to use HTTPS, change your firewall WAN rule to port 443 instead of 80, that would be as good as using the VPN encryption. You'll have to make up a self-signed certificate, but it would work and be much safer to snooping.
