Compact Flash compatibility

I'm wondering if there's certain compact flash cards out there that refused to be used as an ide device. I tried to install FreeNAS on a Lexar 1GB Platinum II 80x and it wouldn't boot. I have 2 of these cards and 2 cf-ide adaptors so i interchanged them and tried different things. Even tried installing monowall on them and they didn't boot either.
At first i was blaming my cf-ide adaptors, but i pulled a cf from one of my monowall routers (some wierd brand 512MB) and put it in and it booted without issues. Also physdiskwrite doesn't give any errors when flashing to the lexars.
Searched abit on the forums but didn't see if other people had similar issues.

If you get some read error it's BSD not liking CF cards and the IDE controller. Had this weird issue, and when I changed motherboards problem went away. Thing was, that other computer worked fine if booted from CD or HD.
