Hi guys,

I'm using monowall now and I have an issue. I was able to open the ports so that our webserver is accessable from the internet. But the issue is I cannot see the site internally. I was reading on here that there is an issue with the software used that causes it to happen, dissappointing to say the least. My question is how do you overcome this? We don't have a DNS server, or a domain. It's nothing more than the monowall and a 24 port switch.

Anything that leads me into the right direction would be great.

Thanks Smiley

You have several choices.

1) Use the LAN IP of the server, not the WAN IP.

2) Since you don't have a domain/host name for the server, make one up and then make an entry for it against the server LAN IP in your host file(s).

3) Similar to 2) above, set up the name - IP equivalence in m0n0wall's Services: DNS forwarder. Your client PCs must be using m0n0wall as the DNS forwarder for this to work.

Thanks!

Got it going.  Using the DNS Forward. Where it says host I simply left it blank. Works like a charm.

Till my next problem Smiley
