I posted this in the General, but after much work, I've noticed a certain behaviour.

Using an ALIX 2D0 (2 ethernet, 2 miniPCI) and an ALIX 2D1 (same board but with 3 ethernet and 1 miniPCI), here's what I've noticed.

Assume LAN is always set to vr0 (first ethernet port).
If WAN is set to vr1 (second ethernet port, than OPT1 (third ethernet port) or OPT2 (any wireless card set to access point mode) works just fine. [Incidentally, m0n0wall works much better in bridged mode than pfSense.]
Identical set-up [I went to the XML files directly to ensure duplication], if WAN is set as ath0 (first wireless card), and I bridge OPT1 (vr1) with it, it doesn't work. Neither does OPT2 (ath1). In other words, nothing works when WAN is a wireless card.

If this is expected behaviour, it wasn't expected by me. There is no warning about this behaviour. So in either case, I'd say it counts as a bug. Either a warning is needed, or the bridge to a wireless WAN needs to be fixed.
