Hi,
I'm using the generic-pc-1.235 version of m0n0wall on a Nokia IP120 (with 3 eth ports) and I wan t to set up a way to "virtually" be on my LAN from the internet.
So, I don't know what "design" I have to use : do I have to use 1 port for the incoming trafic and 1 port for the outcoming; 1 one port for both?
Could someone have an example of the way to set up M0w0all for that?
Many thanks in advance.

Monowall has a built in pptp vpn server.  This enables you to remotely connect to the Monowall and access your network.  If you have a dynamic Ip address, set up an account with a dynamic DNS service and then set up the pptp VPN.  There is much information on how to do this on the forum and in the documentation.  Have a go, and if you get stuck ask.

I' forgot to give some details :
I don't want to put my m0n0wall device between my DSL box and my switch because I don't want to have all my Internet traffic cross this device. Roll Eyes
So, I just want to redirect the ports used for pptp  to my m0n0wall device wich will be on my switch like all my other devices. So what I don't know is the way to plug it.

Hope my request is understandable. Grin

Thanks in advance for your help.

Why wouldn't you want to have all your traffic go through Monowall? It's an excellent firewall.

Hi Mark,
I know that is a pretty good firewall but I I only want to have a pptp access. This nokia is an old equipment and I don't want to have all my internet traffic across  it.

Thanks.

If you dont want to use m0n0 as firewall :

- Configure the LAN port of monowall
- Redirect the port on your box for the VPN on monowall
- In monowall, the pptp server is seen as in interfaces in the rules, give full access to lan interface

Attention, if you want to access your lan from internet, don't use 192.168.0/1.1, its often used for private network so if your are on a network of this range, you are unable ton access your network in the same range (traffic won't go through VPN in this case) More details inf FAQ.

Try to do, and if your have problems with precise questions we will answer.
