i have my godaddy domain forwarded to my external ip address 97.84.x.x. That seems to be working. However this just takes me to monowalls interface. I can logon and make changes ect...all fine.

But thats not what I want, i want it to forward to my internal webserver that i just setup. at 192.168.1.198. and it works fine if i type that in the url. Ive tried setting up port forwarding but it dosent seem to work. and im 90% sure im doing it right.

We would have to see the NAT setting and filter rule you set up for this.

Here is what I have setup. And I tried to get to the site on a different network and it just times out, because monowall wont accept connections to the control panel from the WAN interface.

Try changing the port the m0n0wall webGUI listens on in System | General setup | webGUI port.

If the WAN IP and your m0n0wall IP are the same, then the GUI IP (on port 80) over-rides your NAT rule. If you only have one IP to work with, switch m0n0wall to another port (like port 88 for example) You'll find this in the 'general' section of m0n0wall under "webGUI port".

To get back to m0n0wall after the change, it's just http://192.168.1.1:88/ in the web browser then (or external IP as well if you have a firewall rule that allows it)

Tried that, It didnt work. For the life of me i cant figure out what im doing wrong. Ive got Apache server setup on an XP machine with the firewall turned off.

Update: I decided to take monowall out of the equation to see if something i setup on the webserver was the problem. I hooked the webserver directly to the internet and it worked fine. so I know monwall is doing something funny. It just says the request timed out every time now.

Just to rule it out, create a rule on m0n0wall that forwards port 88 to port 80 (with logging) to your Apache machine and see if that works. If that works, switch NAT entry to port 80 (HTTP) and try again. My guess is that a firewall rule is blocking access. Check the firewall logs again, see if the pass are changed to block after the rule change.
