Topic: ipv6 aware access point or m0n0wall as access point?  (Read 1994 times)

Hi,

not sure if this is the right forum to post this, so feel free to move it to a more appropriate one if needed.

Currently I have a fairly old Netgear wg302 access point which has wpa2 support and connects me up to my lan where m0n0wall delivers me an ipv4 address via dhcp.

Long story short: I can't get an ipv6 address that way. When I configure my wifi device manually to have a valid ipv6 address I can't reach any ipv6 hosts.

From what I have read I most probably need an ipv6 aware access point to do what I want it to do. Any recommendations on buying one?

Cheers,
toskala

I have not personally tested these routers with IPv6 wireless.
I can offer this guidance:

This page lists routers that support IPv6 out of the box.

In addition dd-wrt firmware in the versions above micro and mini support IPv6.
Check that the router can be flashed with a higher version.

Thank you, I have got myself a Linksys WRT54GL v.1.1 and flashed DD-WRT on the device. It now perfectly handles ipv6 announcments on my wireless device.

Cheerios,
