Anyone having this problem.

It simply will not let me upgrade from 1.3b15 to 1.3 using the web interface.  Soon as I click upload firmware my browser says connection reset.

Which browser/version are you using?

I've tried Firefox 3.5.5 and IE 8.  When I use IE 8 it starts to send the firmware  to the m0n0wall box and then I get the page reset notification.  When using FF 3.5.5 the page reset happens immediately.

I've got a 32mb CF card and 64mb of ram

Hrmm...a few more observations here. This is looking a little bit like a bug/issue with 1.3b15.

On a whim, I tried to apply the 1.3b7 firmware to downgrade from 1.3b15.  The firmware uploaded successfully and the m0n0wall said it was rebooting to apply the firmware.

 Grin

However, after the reboot it was still at 1.3b15 so I suspect there is something in the code that prevents it from downgrading.

 Cry

So it's interesting that the 1.3b7 image will load via the webgui, but the 1.3 image will not.

 Huh

Also, I noticed that after attempting to load the 1.3 image onto 1.3b15 and getting the page reset error in my browser, m0n0wall goes into 99% memory utilization and stays pegged there until I reboot the m0n0wall.

 Shocked

What kind of machine are you using? I wasn't clear on it from reading the messages.

It's an old pentium 133 with 64mb of RAM and a 32mb CF card.

I know...I know...it's old...but I'll tell you what...it's been running on m0n0wall for years now and it's been rock solid and super fast!

My guess is there isn't enough RAM to contain the image to write it to the flash drive. You could try making a backup of your configuration, using the restore to factory defaults option, then try to load the upgrade in hopes that enough free memory is available for a successful install or that the factory defaults will fix some bug in the beta that prevents a successful install if RAM is not the issue.

well....it's interesting that all other 1.3b upgrades were applied fine with no RAM issues when upgrading via the webgui. It seems odd to me that this had become a problem when going from 1.3b15 to something higher.

guess my only option is to remove the CF card and start from scratch....really don't want to do that as the computer is not in a very accessible location and is running headless so I've got drag it out and drag a keyboard mouse and monitor over to it

I know that feeling too. Wish I could give you a better answer, all of my upgrades for the generic PC image release have gone through without problems so far *knock on wood*.

Still wondering if this was specific to my system or not.

However, I gave up and yanked the CF card reflashed it and reinstalled/restored and I'm now running 1.3 just fine.  I guess the next test will be when 1.3.1 comes out to see if I can webflash it
