I have a Soekris net4511 (m0n0wall version 1.236) with Cisco Systems Aironet 350 PCMCIA card for wireless.  The Cisco card does not support hostap so I have to configure as BSS or IBSS. IBSS works with WEP, BSS does not.  I chose IBSS. I have referred to the Handbook and "Wireless Hacking: Projects for Wi-Fi enthusiasts", but cannot achieve wireless internet connectivity.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I performed the following configuration steps.  After completion I should be able to connect to the internet wireless, but I cannot.  The Windows XP wireless connection wizard shows that I am connected via computer-to-computer (strength - excellent).  When I attempt to connect to the internet, IE reports that I am offline.

In console:

Cisco Systems Aironet 350 PCMCIA card = Opt1.
sis0 = LAN IP: 192.168.1.1
sis1 = WAN

DHCP enabled
Range:  192.168.1.50 to 192.168.1.100

It is probably obvious that I am learning as I go.  My cry for help falls into the realm of ad hoc or mesh networking.  I have since learned, sort of, that all devices on an ad hoc network must have the following settings:
• Be in Ad Hoc Mode
• Have the same Network Name (SSID)
• Be on the same subnet
• Be on the same channel
• Have the same 802.11 security settings

I have since resolved the issue by replacing the Cisco Aironet 350 PCMCIA card with a Compaq card that supports m0n0wall's AP option.
