Hi,

I'm planning to upgrade my monowall hardware to a opnwall-rack-19 (link below)
http://www.applianceshop.eu/index.php/appliances/firewalls/opnwall-rack-edition-19-m0n0wall-appliance.html

Actually I'm using a generic-pc which is a little old and dying!   Sad

Can I upgrade straight from the actual version Version : 1.2  built on Sun Oct 9 18:58:35 CEST 2005

to the last one and putting the XML config file without problems Huh

As I'm not so familiar with this product and running out of time to study deeper anothe firewall as this one looks pretty good, all advices will be welcome.   Smiley

Thanks a lot
Denis

Yes you can, just follow the upgrade instructions on the site. Make a backup of your config first, but you won't need to reload it after the upgrade as the settings follow along just fine in my experience.

Did any Ethernet cards get dropped from the list between the 1.2X and 1.3X release? I thought the 1.3 had support for more of them now?

Hi, thank a lot with your answers, I guess I will buy the one below

http://www.applianceshop.eu/index.php/appliances/firewalls/opnwall-rack-edition-19-m0n0wall-appliance.html

As it is referenced on the m0n0wall web site, No ethernet card supposed to appear !

If anyone knows about probs with this OpenWall rack, suggestion welcome.

Thanks

allright , I'm coming back here as I pass my all day trying to make it work.

It is very strange how it goes , as I thought I willjust have to make some basic setup and load my previous config file I saved from the PC.

It did not go like I expect.
lan and wan did not get their right names.

an as the opnwall-rack-edition as 3 Ethernet ports , my old 2 Ethernet cards PC config get lost.  Huh

so the rules get lost too.  Huh

I should have done something wrong. but as it is too late (23h39) I will see that another day.

If anyone as a suggestion, please let me know.
Thanks a lot
Denis

I'm back here to add more infos.
Loading the xml file does not change the interfaces names. so I get errors regarding the rules and other parameters linked to them.
ALL suggestions welcome

here is the default config interfaces running of the opnwall-rack-edition-19-m0n0wall

Hi Denis,
You could just changes the interface names in the xml file.
There are three interfaces on the device:
Eth0 : vr0
Eth1 : vr1
Eth2 : vr2
For instance, if you rename fxp0 to vr0 then the first interface (next to the USB port) is your LAN.
Just a global replace should do the trick.
Best regards,
Jos Schellevis
