I've installed M0n0wall 1.3 on an ESXi 4.0 server. It installed without issue but I can not connect or configure it. It does not see the network cards. I have read to posts but have not found a solution. Has anyone else managed this?

I have tried using both the generic-pc and the generic-pc-vm setup programs. I have also coverted images from an older version that works on an ESXi 3.5 server.

Any assistance very much appreciated.

Generally speaking, if it can't see the NICs, they are probably not supported. Do you know their type?

I have m0n0wall installed on esxi 4.0 in work, it works fine, sees the virtual NIC's ok.

When you go to assign nic's does it now see any at all ?

Thanks for the replies. I have it working now. Here are the steps I took.

I used the VMware version of the install, saved it to my Laptop.
I used converter to put it on the ESXi 4.0 server. (it's originally a server image, not esx)
I deleted the two network cards (flex) and added two E1000 cards.
The system now sees the two cards when booted. I assigned them and continued the install from there.

Note: I had a back from the original install on a ESXi 3.5 image that I restored.
it changed the network cards back to flexi in the config, so I had to assign them again.

Thanks for the help and I hope my explainations helps others.
