If setting up FTP access with the use of a Cisco ASA only port 21 has to be set up.
But with monowall the passive ports has to be setup also, and the FTP server needs to be configured to use the ports specified as well.

Can dynamic port allocation be done with monowall ?

In some applications, like MS SQL, the dynamically opened ports can not be configured on the server. MS SQL uses port 1433 and no problem about that, but a lot of dynamically assigned ports are needed as well.

Works like a charm in ASA but with monowall almost everything has to be “redirected”.
