I need help!!!  My wireless Compaq WL110 PCMCIA card does not show up.

I have a Soekris net4511 (m0n0wall version 1.236) with Compaq Wireless WL110 PCMCIA card for wireless. The PCMCIA card is on the m0n0wall approved list.  Anyway, I set up the system a few weeks ago and it booted fine.  I set the project aside, booted up this evening and the system does not now recognize the Compaq card.  I re-installed v1.236, but no luck.

The boot log reports the following:
..................
pccard: card inserted, slot 0
pccard: card removed, slot 0
ad0: 967MB <CF 1GB> [1966/16/63] at ata0-master BIOSPIO
Mounting root from ufs:/dev/md0c

kern.coredump: 1 -> 0

This looks like your wireless card to me! Have you actually assigned it to an interface? You need to click on "assign" next to Interfaces in the menu. That will let you create a new interface and assign the wifi card to it.

Steve.

Thank you SteveEast.  It worked.

I am scheduled to install this 32 MEG RAM Soekris net4511 next Wednesday for a newly formed non profit venture whose mission is to provide supervised quality apartment style living and support services for high functioning (young) adults with developmental disabilities (the equipment is donated and I am the volunteer who gets to install it -- I love this stuff).  Now it looks like the system might actually work.

I am now going step by step through the Handbook now that I have calmed down and know that the wireless card works.

Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Mike
