Agreed, would be incredibly useful.  I understand however that this may be outside the original scope of the m0n0wall project.

The router/firewall does a fixed set of things, and does them incredibly well. I imagine that there is some worry that the addition of automatic routing protocols might introduce instability, especially during the early phases of implementation, into an otherwise rock solid product.

Yeah, its strange even the cheapest simple "home-router" has at least RIP.
I sort of expected an advanced platform like this should have it all.

But oh well, doesn't matter much since I dont need it, but could be fun to play around with.

<edit>Been reading some more, I now understand its outside the scope of this FIREWALL project...its not supposed to be a hardcore router.</edit>

802.1q would be nice though (dont know if it has it already, but I payed extra for a switch that has it so I hope it'll work). If not I have 3 interfaces on my ALIX so I can have a isolated extra network at home if I wish anyway.

802.1q has been supported for a long time.

Ok, thanks Smiley
I read some shortly about it, and it seemed it was some strange VLAN-simulation using PPTP or something....I didn't get most of it, it just made me confused Cheesy
