Hello m0n0wall forum members,

I would like to know if „Gembird NIC-U1 USB to Fast Ethernet adapter“ could work with m0n0wall?
I know that if it's a situation for example of USB 1.0 or such, going with USB NIC is not so good idea, however I need to know whether it's compatible or not.
This is the particular USB NIC I am talking about:

Thanks in advance,

Looks like it uses an ADMtek chip, which is supported by the "aue" driver in m0n0wall. Only way to know for sure is to try it, of course...

Hello Manuel,

Thanks for the instant reply, I've bought and tried the NIC-U1 and it appears to be not working with m0n0:
----
kernel: uhub0: port 1, set config at addr 3 failed
kernel: uhub0: device problem (TIMEOUT), disabling port 1
----

Anyway, thanks,

Update on this topic:

I did a little research, the NIC-U1 is "DAVICOM Semiconductor Inc." chipset based.

You might find them in many USB NICs, because they are made to be easy re-brandable.

However, I see no FreeBSD driver support at all [only Windows, Linux, MACOS], so that's it, for now.

PS: I forgot to mention one little thing, the chip is small and heats up, so have that in mind.
