Hi all,

i ask myself if i am really to dump to do this. after hours of trying i need help:

i have a pfsense and try to make a pptp connection from home to another location.
at home i have a 172.0.0.0/24 net. i try to connect with windows7 and when i give in the public ip of the remote place it tries to authenticate, it fails, it tries again and then it fails.

on the remote place i have a 192.168.146.0/24 net.
the configuration is made like this (after reading http://doc.m0n0.ch/handbook/pptp.html)

server address: 192.168.146.254
remote address range: 192.168.146.208
wins is configured
128bit encryption is on (to set off i tried as well)
i made a user admin with the ip 192.168.146.209 (i tried as well with leave it blank), the password has no special chars.

so when i connect it tries to verifies my username an password, then to establish a connection. then error 619.

the firewall rule is set according the documentation mentioned above (no modification)

the pptp log says this(i masked my client's public ip, but its the correct one of course):

it seems to me that it has some sort of lcp problem. on both sides i can't find configurations about lcp

i just realised that the time is wrong. i hope that doesn't make problems. i corrected to config. but it seems that i have to restart the firewall which i can't risk at the moment, since i am not near the firewall at the moment.

when i read the forum, for most ppl the pptp is no problem with windows... so the problem i guess is a very simple reason...

thanks for any help and hints in advance.

cheers

I use Win7 to monowall all the time and it works perfectly.  All I had to do is set a username and password in monowall and then Win7 connected first time with default settings.

Make sure you are entering a resolvable domain name or external IP of the remote place into the address field in Win7.

If that is not it, you say you have pfsense, you should post on the pfsense forums.
