Topic: AICCU / SixXS Tunnel not working after 24h reconnect  (Read 6864 times)

Every 24 hours I need to reconnect to my internet provider (PPPoE). This is common for a DSL connection in Germany. But after the reconnect the AICCU client is not running anymore and the tunnel to the SixXS service is broken.

As a workaround, I can manage to start the AICCU service using the exec.php with the following command.
Code:
/usr/local/sbin/sixxs-aiccu start /var/etc/aiccu.conf

Maybe a forced 24h reconnect via m0n0wall would solve the problem and could be a nice feature!

I'm using m0n0wall 1.33 on ALIX hardware.

Thanks.
- Chris

EDIT:
I used the following HOWTO to setup m0n0wall with SixXS: http://www.sixxs.net/wiki/Configuring_MonoWall
FYI.

I "vote" for this bug, since I've the exact same problem (DSL with PPPoE, forced disconnect every 24h, m0n0 on ALIX).

Error message in DHCP-log:

---
May 7 19:30:22  sixxs-aiccu: [tun-start] Couldn't open device gif0 or /dev/tun*: Device busy (16)
May 7 19:30:22  sixxs-aiccu: AICCU running as PID 40407
May 7 19:30:22  sixxs-aiccu: Succesfully retrieved tunnel information for Txxxxx
May 7 19:30:11  sixxs-aiccu: [AYIYA-beat] : Error (-1) while sending 44 bytes sent to network: No route to host (65)
---

The workaround works for me, but it's getting very inconvenient over the time.

before doing the workaround, can you send me the output of status.php ?

That output is very long and has loads of information,  such as my config, firewall rules, MACs, IPs, etc., that should not be posted in a public forum. There's even a warning that says so. What in particular do you need?

If you happy to PM it to me that would be useful.

Otherwise you need to check in the output that everything looks correct, in particular your firewall rules...

Hi,

the forum didn't allow me to pm you the complete status.php (too large), so i sent you an URL where to pick it up. I did the following:

- rebooted (everything including ipv6 tunnel works fine)
- disconnected PPPoE
- reconnected PPPoE (both via Status/Interface - ipv6 tunnel failed as described above)
- saved output of status.php

It turned out that i have m0n0 on WRAP, not ALIX, but that should not make a difference. I use a DSL-"modem" with PPPoE passthrough to connect to my provider.

I second that bug!
thx for the workaround!

German DSL with 24h reconnect
ALIX, m0n0wall 1.8b
sixxs as ipv6 tunnel

This should be fixed in the latest beta (b480), but needs to be tested/confirmed.

Hi,

I just installed the b480, let it connect, forced a disconnect and then reconnected: sixxs tunnel is back online!
Seems to be fixed, can tell you for sure in 24 hours ;-)

Thanks a lot! You do great work here!

on a sidenote:

I just read the changelog and want to report that PPPoE and VPN PPTP is working concurrently (as I am at work, my m0n0wall is at home, and I write this via a PPTP-Tunnel to my m0n0wall).

Also I was wondering if it might improve the value of the changelog if one could see what got changed from revision to revision i.e. a visual marker what exactly was changed in 480 compared to 478.

Great - thanks for the feedback!

The change log is actually redundant, since the description of the changes for each commit is also included as a commit message in the repository - so I'm thinking of getting rid of it. The commit messages can be viewed using a subversion client (svn log http://svn.m0n0.ch/wall/branches/freebsd8), and the last 5 commits also appear on http://m0n0.ch/wall/repository.php.
