Installation

i try to install m0n0 on cf card and all the time i've got a "boot error" message
i have cf-ide converter, my comp detect it
under linux i download image, write it to cf card with gunzip (as in the installation manual), and nothing, all the time "boot error" when i try to boot up comp from cf-card
after gunzip on my cf card i have few files with strange filenames (sime signs etc.), after second boot of my linux it can't mount this cf card, only help is to make new filesystem on it - is it correct property?
