I am interested in the new Soekris net6501 board, but a bit unsure which one to get.

In my opinion for what I do the lowest model should be just fine.
This would make it the 600MHz model with 512MB RAM.

My situation is a home environment with a 120Mbps download and 10Mbps upload cable internet connection, which will go to 240Mbps somewhere next year.
The connection isn't used fully most of the time, but I know I can get the full 120Mbps download speed, so I need hardware that supports it.

Currently I run a VIA board (forgot the exact specs already) with dual 1Gbit NICs and a Gbit switch.
Ideally I want to use the Soekris board to hook up the WAN, NAS, one computer and a switch in the other room. Meaning I can cut out the first switch.

So what I need the Soekris to handle is the internet speed and 1Gbit when transferring large files.

Any thoughts on this? Perhaps a faster CPU?

(If this should have been places in the General thread, please move it. Wasn't sure where to place it)
