Topic: m0n0 1.8 config of PPPoE - similar to pfSense so interface can have private IP?  (Read 1739 times)

In pfSense and m0n0wall 1.x branches, it seems the PPPoE is setup on a virtual adapter ng0 but is tied up the physical WAN port used.

In pfSense 2.x, it seems this is  changed and quote from here:

On 2.0, a PPPoE WAN is actually assigned to a virtual PPPoE adapter, not the physical port.

In pfSense 2.x, a quick test shows that one can assign the interface used for the PPPoE adapter, as an optional interface - thus, giving the ability to set an IP and allowing communication with the modem (for checking sync logs, details etc.). A quick test of the m0n0 1.8 latest beta shows the interface seems to be tied up like in 1.33.

Is there anyway something like this can be implemented in m0n0 1.8? That is, succinctly, the ability to give the WAN adapter used in a PPPoE configuration, a private IP address too?

Thanks for your consideration
