Hi,

I would like to know what embedded hardware would support a 100mbit WAN connection? Currently I use an Alix board for a 50mbit fiber connection but my telco is going to be offering upgrades to 100/200mbit in the near future. This would mean having gigabit NICs, but what processor would I need? I have seen fanless cards with dual gigabit and intel atoms (Dual-core D2700@2.13GHz from Jetway or intel Atom D510 from Supermicro) would these be sufficient? (The m0n0wall sizing guide recommends 2.8GHz Pentium for gigabit)

Note: the reason for the embedded h/w is because it will be installed in a wiring closet and needs to be low power/low heat.

Thx

Alan

Yes i think that the Atoms would be relatively okay (sure better than the Alix) but it also depends on what kind of traffic are you going to pass through the router.
Anyway i think that You should use modified version for SMP support.
