I'm curious to try this null modem cable thing, but my motherboard has only a parallel port (25 pins) and no serial port (9 pins). What are the chances of getting a console on the parallel port? I'm using version 1.3b2.

You might be able to use 25pin (LTP or something like that) to 9pin (null modem) converter cable. I think that it would work! Smiley I've used same solution for my old superstack II switch.

Even with a converter, that's not going to work (unless there's a converter that'll turn your LPT port into a COM port).

You'll have to get a USB to serial adapter.

I should have clarified that it's the monowall that has no serial port, only a parallel port. Sorry for the potential confusion. Will the monowall serve up a console on its parallel port? With some tweaking?

Oh!  Well, I still don't think that changes anything. Google FreeBSD parallel console and you might find something. As is, the image will not put a console on a LPT port, and I'm not even sure if it's possible at all.
