Hardware

Hi,

since i'm buying new (pc) hardware for my setup, i'm eagerly waiting for some more info on supported network hardware for the upcoming release m0n0wall v 1.3.

The official documentation states this:
Currently all g, b/g, and a/b/g wireless cards are incompatible with m0n0wall. These require drivers that are only found in FreeBSD 5.x and 6.x, while m0n0wall is on 4.11. They will be supported when m0n0wall is  on a newer version of FreeBSD.

If the chipset is on the supported list then the card is supported.

Wireless
The m0n0wall 1.2x series only support a few 802.11b wireless adapters/chipsets (most notably Lucent Hermes and Intersil Prism II/2.5. m0n0wall 1.3, which is based on FreeBSD 6, supports (almost) all Atheros-based 802.11a/b/g cards as well (and some Ralink cards too).

So if You have Atheros You're probably okay except for the AR5005VL chipset.

Isn't the new version supposed to be based on FreeBSB 8 ?

Beta versions

Development is currently being done on a FreeBSD 8.2 based version of m0n0wall that brings better support for current hardware (especially new WLAN and Ethernet controllers), as well as massive improvements to the IPv6 support.

Sorry my mistake, i see now that the development version is 1.8 branch...
