I have a G4 mac and its sitting here collecting dust.  It used to be a server so it has 2 gbit cards in it.  I know I could just install debian and use ipfw on it, but i'd like something a little neater.   any suggestions?

Have you considered running m0n0wall in a VM?

What happened when you install monowall on it? You could use IPcop. Should be pretty easy.

m0nowall runs only on X86 hardware, and a G4 MAC is not.

I'm not aware of any firewall/routing only solution for Power PC hardware.
