This hardware would be really nice as a firewall/router. It is a nice step above the alix boards.

Features:
4 x Realtek RTL8111E Gigabit LAN Ports
CompactFlash Slot
Up to 4GB DDR3 SODIMM memory
2 Sata ports
PCI-E x 1 and Mini PCI-E Expansion slot; supports mSATA

Before I go out and shell out all my hard earned dough I need to know if monowall will run on this.
Anyone successfully run monowall on this thing?

After a quick google search, it looks like that board runs on an Atom CPU, which is x86. So, yes, it should work. Looks like a pretty beefy little board, it should be able to handle quite a bit of throughput.

I realize I can install it on the hardware due to the i386 processor but what about the NIC drivers?

It's a Realtek RTL8111E NIC and should work with the current beta:
