Did you install it to the hard drive?  Do you get some kind of error trying to boot?  Would you care to tell us what?

The more information you give, the easier it is to help you.  You may want to consider reading this.

Is it failing in post?  Can you do an f12 (or the equivalent) and force a boot from the drive?

1.34, fine. But what specific image did you download and try to write to HDD? Did the process complete normally or were there errors?

What is this 'marker' you mention?

So far, I have seen nothing in your report to show that your BIOS is completing post and actually getting to the image.

I asked if it is completing post, and you have not answered.

I asked if you could use f12 (or the equivalent) to select a boot device, and you have not answered.

I troubleshoot in order of operations.  Until I know that the system is actually fininsh BIOS post and seeing the drive, I will not go any further.  Once that is done, I would sugest booting memtest and making sure the platform is stable next...

Cool.  That actually tells me a lot!  You are finishing post and you can see the drive, and some of the freebsd image.  But not all...  This could be a bad image, or a bad system.

Next step I would do is to boot a memtest86+ disk and run it overnight.  There is one on Ubuntu Live CDs.  Or here for the beta which I have found very stable. http://forum.canardpc.com/threads/68001-NEW-!!-Memtest86-5.00-RC1-available-!-Need-betatesters-!

I like to make sure the hardware is solid before I move on to software.  This is from a lot of experience and hundreds of m0n0wall firewalls...  It is usually hardware. Smiley

But if not, we will go on.  Next step will require a linux or bsd system.  Do you have one, or will we need a boot disk?
