I currently have m0n0wall installed on VMware and in the console, i have configured the interface cards, turn dhcp off, and assigned it an IP address.  I wanted to have it setup before i replace the current router with it.  Unfortuately though, when I ping the IP I have assigned it, it responds with host unreachable.  I am not sure why it's not responding.  It is connected to the LAN, and I have not connected anything to the nic I assigned as the WAN.

Any ideas?

If it is configured correctly, it should be able to ping out.  If not, make sure you have configured the correct nic drivers, and have your vswitches set up correctly.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the nic config on the host as I have another vm on there which is working properly.

Fixed.  I had to remove the nics for the VM and re-add it as e1000 adapters.
